Become your own boss

The Explore Enterprise course is part of The Prince's Trust Enterprise programme – a four-step journey designed to boost your enterprise skills, help you test out your business idea and give you the opportunity to apply for a business mentor and financial support.

1. Decide if Enterprise is right for you

Sign up to The Prince’s Trust Learning Hub to watch our Explore Enterprise information video to start your journey.

We'll tell you all about the course so you can decide if it’s a good match for you. You’ll also get the chance to attend a live information session if you want to ask some questions or if you want extra support before deciding to take the next step.

2. Explore Enterprise Course

The Explore Enterprise course brings you six 2.5-hour online workshops that help you develop the skills you need to start your own business.

The workshops tap into a wide range of business topics to help you explore and prepare for self-employment. Come together with other young people to learn about everything from business planning and marketing, to sales, budgeting and tax.

The course also includes a series of videos and independent learning tasks you’ll need to complete in your own time.

To get the most out of your time with us, you need to complete all learning tasks. Tasks help you prepare for workshops and will boost your personal development.

Build skills and connections

During your time on the Explore Enterprise course you’ll build knowledge, connections and a variety of skills that will help to support you into the world of business.

3. Build your business

Once you’ve completed the course, we’ll provide you with one-to-one support time to start building your business.

We’re also here to give you advice and guidance as you plan and test your ideas, and you'll even get the opportunity to apply for funding. This is where most of your time will be spent as you work to apply everything you have learned with The Prince’s Trust to take your business forward.

4. Launch your business

Before you launch your business, you'll get the chance to present your business plan to our Business Launch Group.

Don’t worry, there are no dragons here. This will be a positive experience to ensure there are no weak points in your plan and to give you full confidence for the successful launch of your business.

Business mentoring will be available to you at this stage in your journey. We also offer start-up finance support if you need it.

The Prince’s Trust is committed to helping every young person. However, there are some business ideas we are unable to support. You’ll have the chance to discuss your idea with one of our team in your first one-to-one after the course. If we are unable to support your idea, we will signpost you to other organisations who might be able to support.
